National Personal Safety Day 2011 Surpasses Expectations

By Jo Walker In Suzy Lamplugh Trust News

The expansion of National Personal Safety Day 2011 surpassed all expectations this year. Suzy Lamplugh Trust had planned for growth by increasing the number of printed campaign leaflets made available to partner organisations by 50% – from 100,000 to 150,000. However these had run out by mid- summer and another 25,000 were printed. These were also quickly snapped up before the day and over 80 organisations were disappointed to miss out, although they were provided with electronic campaign material.

National Personal Safety Day is fast-becoming an established event in the calendar for many organisations, with over 330 police teams, local council departments, Neighbourhood Watch teams, schools, colleges and workplaces across the country supporting the event by running personal safety events/activities and promoted the campaign on the day.

This year has demonstrated that the potential for growth is tremendous – both in the number of organisations that support the day and in the level of support within each organisation.

Campaigns & Communications Officer, Jo Walker, said:

” We have seen a 100% increase in the numbers we have reached this year with the campaign safety messages and are looking forward to any even more successful year in 2012.”

The growth of the event was once again only made possible due to the kind support of Legal and General Insurance, who sponsored the event for the second year running.
