What are the Awards?
The National Personal Safety Awards celebrate the work being done across the UK to help keep people safe from the risk of violence and aggression.
They also provide an opportunity for Suzy Lamplugh Trust, the UK’s national charity for Personal Safety, to recognise best practice in the field across all fields.
What are the Awards for?
National Personal Safety Day Award 2011 ~ Sponsored by Ladbrokes
Awarded to the organisation, school or college who have done the most to promote personal safety within their own organisation, school/college or local community in and around last year’s NPSD 2011.
Safer Workplace Award
Awarded to the employer which has done the most to improve personal safety awareness among staff.
Safer Community Award ~ Sponsored by Ladbrokes
Awarded to the a local group, individual or local authority who has done the most to spread awareness of their work within their local area and improve personal safety.
Inspiring Individual Award ~ Sponsored by Ladbrokes
Awarded to the individual who has done the most to promote personal safety in his/her organisation, school or community.
BRAND NEW Taking Stalking Seriously Award
Awarded to the individual, community group or organisation that has done the most to support victims of stalking, or has campaigned and helped to raise awareness of the issues surrounding stalking.
* Please note that you can nominate yourself, for an award as well as any colleague, friend or relative. You can also nominate yourself for more than one award and the judges will decide which category you are strongest in.

National Personal Safety Awards 2012 Application Pack and Nomination Form
What are the criteria?
We are looking for nominees to display how they have best helped people stay safe in their respective category. Nominees or their proposers are invited to evidence how they have met some the following criteria:
1. Involvement – engaging others (staff, residents, pupils, communities etc) in finding the best ways to improve personal safety
2. A focus on risk assessment – identifying personal safety risks and enabling others to do so (whether through formal processes or “on the spot” judgments)
3. Embedding – ensuring personal safety isn’t isolated as a separate issue, but is embedded in people’s thinking and everyday lives
4. A positive, proactive and preventative approach – avoiding scaremongering; taking positive actions and encouraging proactive steps towards having confidence in avoiding violent or aggressive incidents
5. Creativity – taking an innovative approach to improving people’s personal safety
6. Commitment and drive – a clear dedication to improving personal safety
Closing date: 1st October 2012 at 6pm, applications after this time will not be counted.

Winners of the 2011 National Personal Safety Awards
25th Anniversary Edition
To celebrate our landmark birthday we held a special National Personal Safety Awards ceremony at our Silver Anniversary Fundraising Gala, held at the Waldorf Hilton. Only 3 awards were presented. The winners of these awards were:
Diana and Paul Lamplugh Award:
Presented to the very deserving Ann Elledge for her outstanding contribution to the field of personal safety and her dedication to the Suzy Lamplugh Trust.
Safer Workplace Award:
Awarded to Shaw Trust for their ongoing dedication to personal safety awareness and training for all staff.
National Personal Safety Award 2010, Sponsored by Legal and General
Awarded to Chris Hobro of Barking and Dagenham Police for holding an outstanding National Personal Safety Day in 2010.
