Get Involved
National Personal Safety Day 2009 is open to everyone to get involved. This year’s READY STEADY SAFE campaign offers everybody the ideal opportunity to get valuable advice on how to stay safe on public transport out to those we care about.
Individuals
If you are concerned about your own and your loved ones safety, you can download the Personal Safety Tips and discuss them with your family. You could also ask your employer and/or your children’s school what they are doing to mark the day. Check out the Fundraising section to see what you, your workplace or local schools could be doing to highlight the issue of travel safety whilst raising valuable funds for Personal Safety charity, Suzy Lamplugh Trust.
Teachers/Youth Workers
If you want to promote the travel safety messages to the children and young people in your care, check out the Schools section for the safety information and a list of ideas and activities you can use. You will also find some fun ideas in the Fundraising section which might be appropriate for you.
Employers
If you are an employer who believes your staff would benefit from the READY STEADY SAFE campaign safety advice, why not download the Tips for Newsletters PDF and email it to all staff or publish it in the staff newsletter. As an organization you may also want to get involved in raising much needed funds for Suzy Lamplugh Trust. If so, check out our Fundraising section.
Local Authorities/Councils
National Personal Safety Day 2009 not only offers local authorities and councils the chance to promote the READY STEADY SAFE campaign’s safety advice to local residents, it also offers the ideal opportunity to highlight the safety initiatives which have already been taken, or are being planned, in their area – such as better street lighting; more community policing; more cameras on buses; safe waiting areas at stations/bus stops etc.
If you wish to take advantage of National Personal Safety Day 2009 to promote any initiatives of your own which aim to improve Personal Safety, then we would be happy to support you. Also, if you send us the relevant information, we will highlight what your company/organisation/authority has done/is planning to do on the official National Personal Safety Day website.
