Day 1 (9.30-5.00)
- Promoting a culture of Personal Safety within your workplace – setting the standards of Personal Safety and defining Violence and Aggression at Work.
- Overview of the potential risks – comparing different industry statistics and risk profiles.
- Exploring the factors that may increase the potential for aggression/violence.
- Exploring the Legal requirements – the employers and employees responsibilities. Specifically looking at how Health and Safety legislation relates to Personal Safety and the management systems that can be implemented to meet the requirements.
- Introducing and using a risk assessment tool to assist in identifying, prioritising and managing Personal Safety risks within your organisation.
- Understanding the role of Policies and Procedures – using examples of good practice to assist in making any measures effective.
Day 2 (9.30-4.30)
- Achieving staff and management buy in at the early stage – ideas on how to achieve this.
- Exploring control measures – ARC Appropriate, Realistic, Cost Effective. Including best practice ideas for controlling the risks: in the working environment, when working in the community, lone working, travelling, entering other people’s homes.
- Exploring Tracing Systems – ‘Buddying’ through to technology including looking at new guidelines for lone worker systems. Guidance on evaluating your needs and deciding on appropriate solutions.
- Best Practice for capturing and communicating information on potential aggressive clients/service users – looking at the Data Protection Act and its implications.
- Effective training – understanding the process for procuring or evaluating potential training which will be valuable and effective.
- Achieving and measuring long term success – how to gain continued staff commitment and ensure your policies procedures, training etc are effective and keeping Personal Safety on the agenda.
