To mark National Stalking Awareness Week (20 - 24 April 2026), the Suzy Lamplugh Trust hosted a virtual conference on Tuesday 21 April from 10:00 - 13:00 on the critical link between stalking and homicide.

We are really excited about our line-up of speakers who include:

  • Claire Waxman OBE, Victims Commissioner for England and Wales;
  • Dame Nicole Jacobs, Domestic Abuse Commissioner for England and Wales;
  • Prof Jane Monckton Smith OBE, Professor of Public Protection at the University of Gloucestershire;
  • Prof Clive Ruggles, Father of Alice Ruggles and Chair of Alice Ruggles Trust;
  • Dr Andy Myhill & Dr Rosie Erol, Senior Research Officers at the College of Policing;

The event will:
  • Highlight the link between stalking and homicide evidenced in recent research, including early warning signs and dynamic risk factors;
  • Explore current gaps, challenges and opportunities to strengthen early identification and responses to stalking;
  • Advocate for stronger recognition of stalking as high-risk factor and potential precursor to homicide and suicide; as well as
  • Call for renewed commitments and coordinated multi-agency action to prevent future deaths.
